How a Scale & Clean Complements Your Whitening
A scale and clean isn't something every client needs before whitening — it's worth considering if there's visible surface staining or calculus, since it gives the whitening gel a cleaner tooth surface to work with.
What's Included
Sonreir's scale and clean removes supragingival (above the gumline) plaque, calculus and extrinsic staining — the surface build-up and staining visible on the tooth.
Do You Need One Before Whitening?
Not necessarily. At your first visit, Rebecca will let you know if a clean would help based on what's visible on your teeth. If you've already had a professional clean recently — with Rebecca or your regular dentist — you may not need another one before whitening. If there's no significant staining or calculus, you can go straight ahead with whitening.
Why It Can Help
Removing surface build-up first gives the whitening gel a cleaner tooth surface to work with, which can support your whitening results.
A Standalone Option, Too
A scale and clean doesn't have to be tied to whitening — it's also a good option for general oral health maintenance on its own, and many dental professionals recommend one every six months.
