Be Prepared for your Appointment
Before your In Chair Whitening Appointment
It is recommended to have had a recent dental check up, x-rays and clean (two weeks to six months).
All dental treatment needs should be addressed prior to your whitening appointment.
Brush with sensitive toothpaste one to two weeks prior to appointment (eg Sensodyne).
What to expect at your appointment
Comprehensive dental and medical history will be taken. A consent form is provided explaining the procedure. Any questions can be answered prior to commencement.
The treatment uses a 25% hydrogen peroxide gel that is accelerated by the blue LED light to produce maximum whitening results in the shortest time.
The whitening gel will be applied to the teeth which will be exposed to the light for three – four cycles of 15 minutes.
A retractor will be placed in the mouth to help keep it open and the soft tissues (lips, gums, cheeks and tongue) will be covered and protected to ensure they are not exposed to either the gel or the light.
After Care
Follow a white/clear diet for 24 hours post whitening treatment.
Desensitising gel will be provided for home use post treatment.
